1. Acceptance of Terms

Welcome to HoodSignal! By accessing or using our Service (website, mobile app, SMS alerts), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree, please do not use HoodSignal.

These Terms constitute a legal agreement between you and HoodSignal.

2. Description of Service

HoodSignal is a community-driven platform that helps users find affordable essential products in their area by:

• Tracking prices at local stores in San Diego, California
• Sending SMS alerts about price drops and stock availability
• Providing price comparison tools and trend analysis
• Enabling community contributions of price data and store information
• Offering a 7-day free trial, followed by a $7/month subscription for premium features

3. Account Registration

Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use HoodSignal. By creating an account, you represent that you meet this requirement.

Account Security

• You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your password
• You agree to notify us immediately of any unauthorized access to your account
• You are responsible for all activities that occur under your account
• We reserve the right to terminate accounts that violate these Terms

4. Subscription & Billing

Free Trial

• New users receive a 7-day free trial with full access to premium features
• You will not be charged during the trial period
• You can cancel anytime during the trial without being charged

Premium Subscription ($7/month)

• Billing Cycle: Monthly, beginning after your 7-day trial ends
• Payment Method: Processed securely through Stripe
• Auto-Renewal: Your subscription automatically renews each month unless cancelled
• Price Changes: We will notify you 30 days before any price increase

Cancellation & Refunds

• You can cancel your subscription at any time through your account settings or Stripe portal
• Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period
• No refunds are provided for partial months
• If you cancel during the free trial, you will not be charged

5. SMS Text Alerts

Consent to Receive Messages

By subscribing to HoodSignal alerts, you expressly consent to receive automated text messages at the phone number you provided. This consent is not a condition of purchase for free features.

Message Frequency & Charges

• You may receive up to 1-2 messages per day during active price alerts
• Message and data rates may apply from your mobile carrier
• HoodSignal is not responsible for carrier charges

Opt-Out Instructions

You can opt-out of SMS messages at any time by:

• Texting STOP to any message from HoodSignal
• Updating your alert preferences in your account settings
• Contacting support to disable alerts

6. User Contributions

HoodSignal allows users to submit price reports, suggest new products/stores, and contribute to the community.

Contribution Guidelines

You agree NOT to submit:

• False, misleading, or inaccurate price information
• Spam, advertising, or promotional content
• Offensive, hateful, or inappropriate material
• Content that violates any law or third-party rights

License to User Content

By submitting contributions, you grant HoodSignal a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide license to use, display, and distribute your content within the Service. You retain ownership of your contributions.

Moderation

We reserve the right to review, approve, reject, or remove any user contribution at our sole discretion.

7. Prohibited Conduct

You agree NOT to:

• Use the Service for any illegal purpose
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to our systems
• Scrape, crawl, or harvest data from the Service without permission
• Impersonate another user or provide false information
• Interfere with or disrupt the Service's operation
• Use automated bots or scripts (except with our written permission)
• Manipulate prices or submit fraudulent data

8. Data Accuracy Disclaimer

HoodSignal aggregates price information from community contributions and public sources. While we strive for accuracy, we make NO GUARANTEES regarding:

• The accuracy or completeness of price data
• Product availability or stock levels
• Current promotions or sales

Prices may change without notice. Always verify prices and availability with the store before purchasing.

9. Intellectual Property

All content on HoodSignal (including text, graphics, logos, code, and design) is owned by HoodSignal or our licensors and is protected by copyright and trademark laws.

You may not copy, modify, distribute, or reverse-engineer any part of the Service without our written permission.

10. Third-Party Services

HoodSignal integrates with third-party services (Stripe for payments, SMS providers, etc.). Your use of these services is subject to their own terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for third-party services.

11. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED.

We do not warrant that:

• The Service will be uninterrupted or error-free
• Defects will be corrected
• The Service is free from viruses or harmful components
• Price information is accurate or up-to-date

12. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, HOODSIGNAL SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE.

Our total liability to you for all claims shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the past 12 months (or $10 if you haven't paid anything).

13. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold HoodSignal harmless from any claims, damages, or expenses (including legal fees) arising from:

• Your use of the Service
• Your violation of these Terms
• Your contributions or conduct on the platform

14. Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account at any time for:

• Violation of these Terms
• Fraudulent or illegal activity
• Non-payment of subscription fees
• Any reason at our sole discretion

You may terminate your account at any time by cancelling your subscription and deleting your account.

15. Governing Law & Disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to conflict of law principles.

Any disputes shall be resolved through binding arbitration in San Diego County, California (except small claims court).

16. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by:

• Updating the "Last Updated" date
• Sending an email or SMS notification (for significant changes)

Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

17. Severability
